I found this website that lists stations still selling ethanol free gas.
Plugging my own State into the list - the ‘pure gas’ locations are just about all are marinas. Wonder why?
Ethanol gas allows water absorption, causing corrosion which plays havoc with fuel systems.
Ethanol eats or degrades rubber fuel lines. Also, many marine fuel tanks are made of plastics that are degraded by Ethanol. Gasoline fumes sink to the lowest part of the hull, and must be vented before operating any unshielded electrical devices (or starting the engine), which is why you must first ventilate those spaces by turning on the ventilation fans (blowers)!!! Built-up fumes cause fires and/or explosions!
Diesels have their own issues with fuel contamination.
I know I hate the stuff… Every winter the gubment makes us run a “winter blend”. Yeah, thanks. The stations charge MORE $$ per gal.for gas with a higher ethanol content. Your gas mileage TANKS with this crap. (mine drops from ~ 21 MPG highway to ~ 17 MPG)
More often than not I pay more for the ethanol free premium. I wont even think about anything else for my small engine stuff.
Yup.
Especially not good for two stroke snowmobile engines.
Im surprised that even in my own town, only one station according to the site, is Ethanol free. I would had thought that Sunoco Gold 94 would have been Free of Ethanol as well.
There isn’t a single option within about 45 minutes of me, just west of Chicago in a state that has tons of corn farming. I made a thread about it a while back and asked if anyone knew where to find some ethanol free options around here. Don’t really appear to be any, nearby. Not a fan of that.
