Hi Have a copy of the basic Marti Report. Has several items could not get a good answer on from internet searching. Hoping you guys can help clarify these.
Has an export DSO 93. 90-99 stated export. For 93 Some info said Canada, 90-99 should not be Canada. Some say buck tag had a country code. The buck tag is gone, so that is not a source of info.
Also dealer code of 9B0C93. Where would that have been? Info if found contradictory 9B: Often associated with the Canadian market or specialized regional offices. 0C93: Typically indicates a specific special ordering district or a unique fleet order (DSO).
In the options list “Heavy Duty Export Suspension”. What suspension components would this comprise? The 1968 Cougar heavy-duty export suspension, often found on Shelby or European export models, improves handling and structural rigidity through a thicker one-piece heavy-duty export brace. Key upgrades for this package include heavier-duty front sway bars, higher-rate coils such as 600lb , and stiffer rear leaf springs.
as far as I know. I’m about the 5th owner best I can guess. I know it did not have export brace. Don’t know size of the heavy duty sway bar or how to tell it 600in springs.
In the list also has “Accessory Packaging”. Only info referenced special packages like Dan Gurney or GTE items.
Build date 17U - July 17, 1968, I think would have be near the end of the production run gearing up for early 69’s and was built with a 289. I though 289 we in early 1968’s till ran out and then 302’s.
You could try contacting Phil Parcells who takes care of the CCOA National Database to see if he has that dealer code on file. Or you could order a more deluxe Marti report and that should have the selling dealer info on it.
You Shou have gotten the Deluxe Marti report. It has much more information on it, I read that the export accessory package was things like light bulbs and other consumables that may not be readily available where the car was being exported to. .The 289 was the base engine for Mustangs for the full 1968 model year, however they were reintroduced to the Cougar line in Spring of 1968 but only in the standard body line and only with the base interior group. It was a marketing thing to make a less expensive Cougar,
First of all you need to spell Kevin Marti’s name properly. The dealer codes were assembled by Kevin around 10 years ago, at that time Phil Parcells and Jim Pinkerton gave Kevin what they had. Some dealer codes were missed because not every dealer was known to them and it is likely that many codes will never be known.
The heavy duty suspension would consist of heavier duty shocks, springs and possibly a larger sway bar. Not every car received a one piece export brace, the cars sent to Canada would be an example of this.
Accessory Packaging ($??) – EXPORT ITEM - This kit is believed to contain spare lightbulbs and fuses, and possibly other minor consumable items. It was intended for Export vehicles so that replacements would be available at hand for items that might otherwise be very difficult to obtain.
