F100 Parts on 67 Cougar

Anyone ever seen any F100 parts swapped into a 67’ Cougar? From what I can tell the PO swapped in the entire front assembly (spindle, suspension, steering, brakes) from a 74’ ish F100 into my Cougar. It’s really been throwing me for a loop with brake parts.

I was able to put a new calipers on to replace the old stuck ones, but my brakes haven’t been working properly. I have been adjusting the MC push rod, but it seems like I either get brakes that never fully release, or the opposite direction my pedal won’t return on its own. Even with the brakes fully released, there are still sticky spots when I spin them.

If anyone has any advice, how to fix this issue or if I should just try and swap entirely back to a cougar front end id love to hear it. I haven’t found anything on the internet about anyone else having this swap done.

I would suggest that you post some photos of your front suspension, steering and brake parts. I highly doubt that someone would use truck parts. Most pickups of that era used the Ford twin I beam front suspension. That is very different from stock Cougar parts. Plus most 1/2 ton Ford trucks of that era used the 5 X 5 1/2 wheel bolt pattern. A Cougar is 5 X 4 1/2.

Not to mention that the F100 (150) front suspension was twin I-beams…

Okay, I will when I take some more pics. I originally thought it was mustang ii/pinto parts, because they look similar, but the calipers from those ended up being about an inch too short. The caliper for a 74 F100 fit perfectly and looks identical to the old motorcraft one that was on my brakes. The Autozone part I used was C512/C513.

A common swap years ago was to use the Granada/Monarch front disc brakes. Try looking those up to see if they used the same caliper. Ford used the same calipers for a lot of applications. For example the 1968-1973 Cougar calipers are the same for almost all the Ford passenger cars of the same era.

From what I can tell, the Granada’s use the same caliper I’ve already tried from a Mustang II/pinto, which was about an inch too short. For whatever reason the caliper from a 74 F100 was an exact match

I would probably go back with the stock calipers. The brakes are pretty critical and usually well engineered. If your brakes don’t stop you, something else will!
