Does anybody know what the factory ride height is for a 1970 XR7 and where it’s measured from? Front measurement and rear measurement. I am thinking about replacing at least the rear leaf springs. I am thinking of having a certain amount of lift engineered into them so I can do away with the air shocks that I am using to lift the rear now. With my leafs sagging I can’t tell how much if any lift I need to add to get the rear to sit at the height I want.
I am also struggling with whether to buy the rebuilt steering box WCCC offers or the Reproduction that has a lifetime warranty. I want my steering to be tight/responsive and last a long time.
standard susp. 25.68 inches front measured from the top of the wheel lip molding.
26.59 inches in front

Great info. Where did you find it? Do you have the numbers for 69?
The ride heights are listed in the Chassis assembly manual for each year. I do not have a manuel for 69, but do have them for 67,68,70.
The manuels are published from Jim Osborn and are available from any Cougar parts supplier.
I’ll have to find one of those, thanks
cougarrand thank you for the info. Both of your measurements say they are for the front. I’m assuming one of those is a typo and you meant to type rear for one of them.
Sorry, Rear is 25.68 inches
Front 26.59 inches
Lower in the back than the front? Boo! Hiss!
Exactly, which is why I want to order leaf springs that will change that.
