All, as noted previously, I am restoring a Std '67. It is/was factory equipped with the luggage rack, per the Marti report. I have the luggage rack.
A question has arisen regarding the mounting points of the rack. My restoration guru is questioning the location of the mounting point(s) on the trunk, as it seems quite close the forward trunk lip, and he’s worried that it might hit the rear window. Said window (as is all glass) is currently out of the car.
Does any one have a similar equipped car that can supply dimensions of location holes from the side & front edges?
Also, was there any gasket/washers between the rack and the trunk.
A photo would be great!
Thanks
Ron
Mine was in the trunk never mounted to the car. The kit contained clamps that held the rack to the trunk lid. No holes needed.
Interesting.
Thanks
Ron
Attached are several photos:
#1 shows the rack in the approximate location as purchased.

#2 shows the the front lip

#3 shows what we think the optimal location might be
Does anyone know the setback of the luggage rack from front lip of the trunk?
Note that the “feet” the rack sits on are not fixed, but can be re-adjusted to other mounting angles. Also, the “feet” do not appear to match what shows on line parts for the factory rack.

So #2 did not post.

You have to let the image complete the upload process. How long it takes depends on your connection.
Thanks!
And I will be more patient in the future.

Gents,
I’m hoping this is not beating a dead horse, but…
Miklos posted a photo of his '68 Cougar with a factory luggage rack. I reviewing comparing his photo to my luggage rack, there is a noticeable difference between his (luggage) rack and my (also luggage) rack. Does any one have any photos of a 67 luggage rack? I am including images of the one that came mounted on my car.
Evidence would suggest a design change between '67 & '68, but is there any documentation to support this hypothesis?
Thanks
Ron
I suggest sending an email to West Coast Cougars. They are responsive and have a wealth of experience. I went on the website and searched deck lids. This is their description for a 67 and 68 deck lid, “For those wanting a cleaner look on their 1967-68 Cougar a 69-70 deck / trunk lid will bolt right on with no modifications. Early 67’s have a unique under-structure, late 68’s have an access hole for installing the lock assembly and 69’s differ from 70 in that the under-structure is cut different to accommodate spoiler pedestal width changes on the Eliminator.” I found it interesting.
A friend has a 67 GT ordered new. He worked at the dealership at the time. He has a luggage rack that is a non mounted (no holes drilled) attachment. It has 4 straps W/ hooks. Ive seen a few (3-4) different styles on Cats. My guess would be that there were more than one supplier providing them on assembly line & or dealer supplied.
Thanks for the responses!
I applied to Don Rush for any info he might have to clarify how many different racks there might have been, and the mounting points & style.

I am looking for a set of the feet that mount to the deck. Did you find out who the manufacturer was?
I did not. I believe there were several suppliers, but, I have no documentation to back up my suspicions. I did not receive a response from WCCC.
Good luck
Ron
