I feared this was soon to come across my desk. My first customer (I know of) has passed from Covid. Bob was a member here who was recently putting together a Red GTE. To read the entire, really good obituary, it is floating around on Facebook, I saw it on the KTL page but it is hard to read screen shot. Someone else will come across the original post and share is my hope. He was a demanding but over the top friendly guy. He was personal friends with Lee Iaccoca and did a restoration on the first production Mustang. I will miss our long conversations.
Wow that is bad news. I knew Bob when I lived in Long Beach, CA. He even brought his GT-E to Knott’s Berry Farm one year. I think we had 5 GT-E’s there which was a lot of them to see together.
He had a lot of interesting collector cars including an early V8 with a flathead, a very low serial number T-Bird (not sure if it was 55, 56 or 57) and of course S/N 002 Mustang with an April 1964 build date.
He bought a 70 Boss 302 Cougar from me a few years back. I think he had one of the lowest mile early fire-tails in existence too. Funny how you get off the phone with someone and you are just sure you will chat in a few weeks, just kind of sets you back when you realize that was the last time. Inspires me to be kind always…

Sad news, RIP.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is a “fire-tail”?
It was through Bob Fria that I was able to meet Lee Iaccoca and ask him some questions concerning the history of Cougar 1. Then too, we communicated hot and heavy during his acquisition of his GT-E. Visited with him in person at Fab Fords Forever, and of course numerous times via telecon and email. He was a great guy and a real car historian, and will be missed by all who knew him, and knew of him.
Bob and I were the final bidders on the 68 GTE 428CJ 4 speed car at the Owl’s Head auction. He gave a copy of Mustang Genesis to the selling family and in the front cover it said: " That car should be in my driveway. All the best. Bob". Very sad that he has passed.
$209.83-900+ on Amazon. But that is what Win Rittal told me. Maybe he thought that compared to the sales price of the vehicle, it was not very much. I’ll cal him and see if he can send a picture. Or perhaps it was a reprint.
