Fastback Cougar project in progress

Here is one in MO heading for the home stretch. I like it!

That’s looking good!

Outstanding! I love it!

I love the way they dealt with the extra body length by having the roof end shy of the end of the trunk lid instead of trying to add more roof. The bodyline on the quarter panel doesn’t really jive with the vent, but hey- I could live with it.

I’d like to see how the trunk opens. That looks like it needs to go up before going far forward.

Very creative! I hope he comes to a local show with it.

This is looking nice!

The body transition from trunk side to quarter extension is unfortunate.
It shows the difficulty in morphing two different cars together. To me, it looks very well done maintaining the aesthetics of both cars.
Visually maintaining the distinct Cougar rear panel, and trim, is paramount to making this work. Who ever did the customizing did real good.

It’s basically how I would do it except use the Torino roof and trunk.

Sweet! The blue one Don posted is the closest I’ve seen to a good execution of this idea. No offense but I don’t care for the earlier ones posted in this thread that retain the Cougar quarter windows. I understand why they did it, it just looks proportionally odd IMO.

I still think a 69/70 version would be pretty ideal if it could be pulled off. The swoopy body line on the side would complement the slope of the roof. But again the trunk opening would be an issue, and how to flow the roof into the longer trunk lid. Might have to consider welding up the trunk seams altogether and just have it be a concept car without a functioning trunk.
