Beautiful!
SWEEET! beautiful rag top.
Very nice looking vert Hope your not at a cars and coffee , those mousetangs have been getting a bad rep lately
Wow… you certainly get thumbs up all the time!
I wonder how you managed to get hood & extension moldings to fit that good???
Yes, please share your secret! Beautiful car
Secret? Umm…buy the car mostly done
Can’t claim any credit for the bodywork I’m afraid or actually any knowledge of how/who or what’s been done to it. Engine compartment and interior are another story. Goodly amount of blood, sweat, and tears in those areas by yours truly.
Very nice! Just thinking how it would look with black/white houndstooth interior.
Beautiful Cougar. Post up some more pictures if you’ve got them. Is your top black or white?
Steven
I think about that a lot too. Too bad they didn’t offer that option from the factory or I’d do it. As a 1 of 1 car (albeit on the low end) I want to keep it as close to original as possible.
Yep. Top is white.
Interior refresh will be documented in another thread. All done except for the seat belts which are the subject of their own thread
Beautiful car! I may be biased but I think the houndstooth interior would look awesome in your car. One of the Arizona guys modified a convertible about 15 years ago with Eliminator striping, hoodscoop, etc and installed the brown/gold houndstooth in a bright yellow car. It looked pretty cool.
Most cars can be 1 of 1 if you juggle the numbers enough. I don’t think that, by itself, has any impact on value. It’s simply something to brag about when people ask about your car.
If you like it, I would do it. Since your hoodscoop, passenger mirror and wheels are already modified, I seriously doubt installing houndstooth would negatively impact the ability to sell your car or the value when sold. Besides, your reproduction seat covers aren’t totally “correct” in grain and fit anyway but that isn’t taking much away from the value or your enjoyment.
Good points all. I may go there someday. My first '70 had black/white houndstooth and I’ve always thought that was the ideal interior for these cars. I suppose dying the door panels black wouldn’t be too hard. It’s not like a 2V FMX car of any kind is ever going to be worth a premium.
It’s a shame nobody makes real comfortweave any longer. You’d think there would be enough of a market to justify it but maybe not. SMS had parchment OEM material but the cost to do the interior would have been staggering (by my standards) vs. going with the route I did.
Very nice car (but then I may be a bit biased!).
I love that car, but I would though wouldn’t I! Kind of reminds me a lot of a car I know very well.
Yours is a little further along than mine and it too was bought mostly done. Enjoy the upcoming nice weather!
Who says you have to dye the door panels black? Why not put the black and white houndstooth inserts in your existing white seat covers and leave everything else white? I almost did that with mine before finally deciding to go with black appointments. You could just take the seat covers off and have new inserts sewn up then reinstall the covers. Probably wouldn’t cost too much at any competent upholstery shop.
Beautiful car. I say do what you want to it. It’s yours.
