after 20 years of owning my cat I finally put her in the local car show. Lots of beautiful cars including a 69, metalic green, vert and a 72 XR7 vert. The major thing that happened was it caused me to actually get a bunch of things done that I have been wanting to do for years done on my car. Sadly, I didn’t place but my cat looked awesome none the less. Personally I blame the vote counter… which was me. Dang I’m just to honest
Speaking of, anyone that has been in the counting chair have any helpful hints for the future. The guy that runs the show lets the people that have a car entry pick 30 vehicles that they like. I then have to take that and figure out the top 25 cars. I used a spreadsheet which helped a lot but good lord it was painful. I even had my wife calling out the car numbers while I was entering the votes and after 3 hours I still wasn’t half way through the votes. I’m thinking access spreadsheet next year (I’m an IT profesional) since I had this land in my lap last minute and couldn’t through something decent together. Suggestions?
First I want to say
to the Classic Cougar Community 68BlackCat . I know it can make you and your Cougar feel overlooked when you don’t place at a show. I go to shows with the intent of having a good time enjoying like minded people (car nuts) and their cars. If I place great, if I don’t I know I had a great day with family and friends.
When the car club that I am a member of puts on a show these are things we look at. Paint, interior, wheels, chrome, engine and trunk compartment. Being clean and detailed helps a lot when I vote on a car.
Na, I’m not down. I had a lot of fun and I got to see some really nice rides including a sweet '50 Merc that took home a lot of awards. Just some pics my brother took while I was busy counting. His is the white Impala next to my black cat.
Welcome…Looks like a very nice prize worthy black cat to me! Heck, I thought that was your trailer behind the cat with all the trophies on it you won .Only suggestion I could add is lower the Cougar a tad. It appears to sit to high which make the wheels not fit the wheel wells. Getting the wheels to fit the well properly sure can make a big difference. A lot of Cougar owners on here including myself have taken that extra step to make the car sit right.
You’re right, I have coil expanders in the front. Only reason is because if I hit a bump I grind my front wheel wells Maybe it’s a matter of driving “style” but I’ve always had trouble with grinding the wheel wells through low dips :s
Neil I agree, that is one fine looking Black Cat. I tend to like Black Cougars…I’m not sure why. Oh yeah… I remember now, it’s because I have a Black Cougar also. So here is to owning a Black Cougar!

Thats is a sweet looking Black Cat, and for me half the fun of going to the shows is seeing other nice rides and chatting with other car nuts. The other half is getting compliments on my cat I took my vert to my first show last weekend, didnt pre register cause in Fl you never know when its going to rain untill you look into the sky and rolled the dice I would make the limited show space for the extra 5$ entry day of show. Well it was a beautiful day and show spaces were all gone so I parked on the outside area of the show, still had a great day and maybe next time i’ll get the vert in Oh and welcome to C.C.C AND THE COUGAR MADNESS
Lately I’ve been in the process of reversing some of the modifications I made when I was younger (coil spring spacers, just put the original center consil back in, etc…) but it’s a slow process with my schedule. It helps my 6 year old boy has started to show a lot of interest in helping me with my car so it’s easier to tell the boss that I need to go out to the garage and do some work with the kid
EDIT: lord, forgive me. I’m ignoring the welcomes. Thanks guys for the warm welcomes to the forums!
Welcome Neil! Sweet looking cat. I would say it is time for some new springs. If you get a set that are lower, they will be stiffer helping both stance and the problem with the bottoming out.
