Flexplate for an a 4r70w swap.

My c4 transmission went out in the cougar, has no forward. So I have decided to do a 4r70w swap. I have found a transmission locally with 22Kmiles for 475.00. Parts I have acquired are a slip yoke from 98 crown vic, us shift controller for the trans, acculink tps kit for carburetor, and transmission crosmember kit from Joe Persad from the all ford mustang forum. The flex plate that is needed for this conversion 164 tooth 28oz.
I have seen double ring gear, single ring gear flex plates, sfi and non sfi flex plates. I think that a sfi flex plate is not needed because the car is not for the drag strip. I do not want to buy a cheep flex plate. Any Info on a good flex plate would be appreciated. Sorry for the long paragraph.

Thanks Scott :beerchug:

Not sure about the torque converter bolt pattern but the 69/70 Cougars with small block and FMX are 164T with 28 oz. balance. I have one I would be happy to sell if my hunch ends up being correct.

Hope this helps.

Bob

Thanks for the responce. That part might work. What would you want for it
And are there any numbers on the flexplate.

Thanks Scott

The FMX plate and the AOD plate are the same. Looking at some parts list comparisons, it looks like the FMX, AOD and AODE/4R70W are all the same flex plate.
