Fun fact: a 9" rear was standard on '69 & '70 Cougars, not so for the Mustang.
1969 and 1970 use different hard brake lines, so keep that information in your car notebook.

Well your car left the factory with a 9" rear. Is it still in the car? Maybe, probably. It is easy to tell if you can get under the car. Look at the pumpkin attaching nut located at the 6:00 position. If it is a 9" you will not be able to put a socket on that nut. On an 8" rear a socket will fit on that nut.
