Front and rear window trim, needed?

I’m getting my windshield and back window put in tomorrow. Is the chrome trim required to hold the window in? Or is just the gasket ok? I have windshield trim but no back trim

The trim is just that, trim. It is just there to give a finished look to the car and does nothing to hold the glass in place. The gasket holds the glass in place. As a side note only the 67-68 cars have both a front and rear window gasket. The 69-73 cars only have a rear window gasket, the windshield is glued in.

Think it will look silly without the trim?

Yes. But that is just my opinion. To me it will make it look unfinished. It is not that hard to get a set of rear window trim.

Yes it will look odd without the trim. Also your going to see all the sealant you use to install the glass.

Here is mine without the trim Installed

Doesnt look too terrible for a temporary thing. I just don’t have the trim yet. Can the windshield trim also be installed after the fact?

You need to install the trim clips first. Then the window with gasket. Just prior to installing the trim you caulk the sealant channel. I would not install the caulking until all the trim has been fit and is ready for final installation within a few minutes of the caulking being applied.

I agree, if your not installing the trim just yet do not apply the caulking until your ready to install the trim. My rear window is still like the photo as I have not polished the trim yet. Mine is still parked in the garage and not driven so leaving the trim off is a non issue for me currently. Once Im ready to install the trim Ill caulk the glass and install the trim after. Remember without the caulking it will leak.
