Hey where can I get front struts for a 1984 cougar. They say it’s the same front and as a fox body Mustang but every strut I get is a half inch short going through the tower. Any information would be appreciated.
From 1983 to 1988 the Mercury Cougar was a variant of the Thunderbird. See if those struts interchange.

They do not unfortunately. 1984 and 1985 they have nothing.
Not sure where you are looking but I see them listed on line and showing as both T bird and Cougar. You might find help on a T bird forum for Super Coupe’s etc in your vintage. This Cougar site mostly has info on Gen 1 and Gen 2 Cougars from 67 to early 70’s.
Maybe try struts for 78-83 Fairmont/Zephyr, 84-85 LTD/Marquis
Yea it says they fit but they do not. I have tried them and every auto part store also says not available. That’s why I was hoping to find someone that ownes a 1984
There is (or at least was) a group that collects the 1983 and newer Cougars. As I recall they went by Cool Cats. There should be a link to their group on the CCOA website. I would suggest contacting them as they are in a better position to answer your question.
