Fuel tank sending unit

Which fuse is for the sending unit, oil pressure and temperature gauge?
I checked my fuse panel and the fuses seem to be good.

If they are all dead check the instrument voltage regulator.

Where would I find that? Behind the glove box?

And how do I test it?

It is bolted on the back of the instrument cluster.

Is this it?

Dat’s it.

When I was working on the rear crossmember. I cut the wire from the gas tank sending unit. I repaired it and tested it with an hmo meter. All checked out. But maybe that would have blown that voltage thingy in behind the dash

How do you fix that? And where do I get a replacement part?

Is it only the fuel gauge that reads bad, but others are OK, or is the fuel gauge your only gauge?
Replacements are found at every Mustang/Cougar catalog store: instrument voltage regulator or constant voltage regulator for dash.

It is my fuel gauge, temp and oil pressure gauge. All worked before the work I did on the rear crossmember and gas tank. Before I accidentally cut the those wires with the grinder. Checked fusses and they are all good. Hash lights work same as speedo and tach

If all 3 gauges are acting up, then it is definitely the CVR and its related wiring/circuit card. If a 69/70, one or more of the gauges can be touching the metal housing via the rear posts, which grounds the circuitry of all 3 gauges.

You think maybe I could have missed a ground wire?

Can I test this voltage regulator while it in the car?

You can’t use a meter as it outputs pulsed power. You can use a test light and you will see it pulsing on and off. One side is 12 volts in the other is pulsed output. You ground the test light and touch the pulsed output. Most likely it is dead and you won’t get anything on the output.

I’ll try that tomorrow thanks

So
It turned out to be that large wire harness that plugs into the back of the instrument panel. Before I went to far taking out the dash. I wiggles and push the harness then I powered up the car and everything works.
Everything I did the winter ( replacer the rear frame, extend the crossmember, replace part of the truck, pull the motor and transmission, welded the crack in the transmission, replace the oil pan and gaskets ) the car runs great with absolutely no leaks under the car when parked!!! About time!

Glad to hear it was a simple fix!

Thanks and thanks for the support from all of you. Maybe I can start liking the car again! Lol good old Christine as my wife call it
