Are the fuse block terminals for the glass fuses the same for 68 as for a 70? I have some rusty terminals that need replaced, They look strikingly similar in the pictures from Don but not sure if they fit. item 41453 from WCCC.
One side of the silver, colored clip is actually attached to the wire. Buy some CRC from Homedepot. It is a special contact cleaner that won’t harm plastics.
It appears that the 1969 and the 1970 Cougar used the same “Panel ( fuse junction )”, p/n : C8OZ-14A068-A as did the Full-size Mercury, Comet / Montego and the Meteor. I’ve seen them come up as NOS on eBay a number of times, and there are reproductions out there, as well.
Unfortunately the 1967 / 68 Cougar shows a different part number : C6OZ-14A068-A I don’t seem to see this version as NOS as often ( actually quite rare ) and I don’t know if a reproduction exists. Best of luck - WCCC might therefore be the logical place to acquire this from.
I don’t need the fuse block, I just was looking for the terminals so I could replace the rusty ones I have. I guess I’ll try cleaning the rusty fuse terminals to see how they come out. Thanks for the replies.
To the OP: Those aren’t all that rusty. Remove the fuses, and throw that puppy into a glass bead blasting cabinet, then spray with Boeshield T9 (rust preventer). That’s what I do with great success. If you really need replacement clips, I have dozens of these boxes laying around that I cannibalize.
