Gasket between brake booster and master cylinder

69 cougar convertible with the 351w. Replacing the brake booster and the new Cardone 54-73202 did not come with a gasket for under the spacer plate and the master cylinder. On the front side. Does anyone know the part number I need?

I’ve never used a gasket there. I have restored a dozen Cougars. Most of them have power disc brakes with a booster. There is a gasket between the booster and the firewall but if there was one in between the booster and the spacer that is a detail I am overlooking.

I think I found my issue. The 69 had a 67-68 booster (probably done wrong years ago) in it that required the spacer and filter. The new booster that I ordered was the correct 69, and does not require the spacer and the filter, the Master Cylinder just mounts directly to the booster. Is that right?

In 1969 the early cars used the Midland booster with the vent / spacer / filter. Later cars used the Bendix single diaphragm booster which did not require the filter / spacer / vent. I think you are mistaking the early / late version.

Ok. So am I ok using this Cardone single diaphragm in replacement for the unit that was in there? Or should I get a booster that still requires the spacer/vent. Booster I purchased is A1 Cardone® 54-73202 Reman Series Brake Booster - Remanufactured. Manufacturer #54-73202. It seems I can use this one, just do not use the spacer and direct mount the master cylinder to the booster.

Well the Midland booster has a dual diaphragm so it has more boost. The Bendix booster is simpler with a single diaphragm and no filter. So the choice is yours. If Cardone only offers the Bendix then I think you are stuck with that one.
