I installed Grab A Traks a couple of months ago. Everything else on the front end was redone with stock components (or OEM replacement, mostly Moog). I didn’t do the Shelby drop. I know my old springs were old, but the 1" drop springs probably raised my car almost 3". Did I get the wrong springs? I can’t think of anyway to install springs “wrong”, they sit in the perch flush, and they are flush on the urethane insulators. Or am I silly and that should be the ride height?
Before (I don’t have a wheel well only shot) and after pics below.
My guess is the old springs were done. I know it sits higher now, but not as high as my new stock height springs here’s a shot to compare.
My wife agrees with me about the color. Even when/if you start tackling the body, that color needs to stay.
The A body Mopar cars are the same way. I just adjusted the camber on Dad’s Duster and at first it sits like a Gasser until you drive it. It seems even more exaggerated with a torsion bar suspension.
If the ride height is correct, that’s good. I just wanted to make sure nothing was messed up. Now I need to do the rear springs.
It take some time for the springs to drop. You just have to drive it, the should go down.
1st generation Cougars sat a little nose high from the factory. I think your after picture looks good with its ride height. The color is awesome as well.

Oh, and the pictures posting in reverse order, the after pics are the top two, bottom is the before.
I learned a lot in getting my height to be correct for what I wanted. Found out that parts houses are selling us Cat owners Mustang coil springs and that is problem number one. They are NOT the same ! Number two is that the springs are cheap overseas crap steel. Found out the hard way after the front of my car sank to the rubber stops after a few months. I eventually ordered a US made factory spec spring and cut it down an inch to get the height I wanted. Also, not saying this is for all springs but once I installed the new coils they settle a bit. Mine settled about 3/8" which was the direction I wanted to go.
Rear leaf springs are obviously not the same since the eyelet distance are way diff than the Mustang. I purchased a set of factory spec from a parts house and the ass end stood way up in the air! I eventually ordered lower arced springs to get the stance I wanted.
