GTE sale

I saw this GTE for sale before. I think its a great looking car. That being said why has it not sold? The price seems good (if you have a spare 65k laying around) . Beautiful color and looks to be in good shape with original parts to be included in the sale. What gives on this rare cat?

I’ve seen it for sale quite a while too. I also thought it sold within the last year? Maybe not then. It is a beauty and I like the color.

That looks like a pretty good deal. It looks like it is in a lot better shape than my GT-E. I like the color but maybe not on a GT-E, but I can’t see that holding it back. Maybe it sold and the ad is still up?

Sounds like a fairly recent ad, compared to what’s been up before. Talks about the “165k” Barrett car…mmmeats. Duh. LOL.

If I had unlimited access to “our” funds…I’d invest in it! LOL. Too bad the other half doesn’t see it that way! Tried going after the one Baumann had, but he was firm on around 100k at the time, and it needed a resto. Dented pax quarter, if I remember correctly. Think he ended up selling for much less.

I have lots of photos of this car taken about 6years ago when I considered buying it for $25k. It was in Illinois at the time. For some reason this car always seems to be for sale. Its been thru at least one other owner from when I looked at it. I decided instead to by my wellington blue GTE/XR7 instead.

LOL, Don, if you get it now for 25k, I’d gladly give you 25.5k the very same day! I’d be tempted to gasp swap in a bang-it-yerself trans, tho…love working the gears!!!

I think the fact that this car has a replacement engine is what holds it back. Before BJ it was listed for quite some time at $50K and didn’t sell. Since the auction he raised it to $65K. I’m not certain he’s really all that interested in selling it.

It might just be to make the wife happy…“see honey its for sale but with the economy the way it is nobodys buying” LOL
at least thats what Id do…

Hey B, did you lose your muppet?

I’ve emailed the seller without a reply.

There is at least one website out there that keeps cars “for sale” even after they’ve long been sold. Some of those cars have “car sold” in the ad, and some don’t. The one I tried to get info for was for sale for well over a year and the guy would never return my emails or phone calls. Finally, this summer, someone put “SOLD” on the ad, but left the ad up for all to see. I am guessing they leave the ads on the site to generate more traffic.

I see the GT-E from MU is still on Ebay…down to 69k for BIN

That’s a pretty good buy for someone…

After he saw Brian’s car sell for $165k he said he was going to take the car off the market, finish the resto and take it to Jan BJ.

I just put it on my Christmas list to Santa. Not sure if I will get it he will probably bring me a lump of coal instead.
It does seem like a good price another couple of months and it might drop more. I doubt it will really go much further down… it started at 125K if memory serves correctly.

I don’t know what to make of this car’s price drop, but it has been amazing. I think B-J was a one-time event, where you had two very wealthy people fighting over a very nice car, but not one that would go for $165K again.

That’s just MO, of course. It just seems like such a singular event… I’ve never seen a GTE come close to that price before or since, but others know the current market for GTE’s better than me I’m sure.

If this car was such a great investment at $65K, I would think someone would snap it up.

There’s been a lot of discussion about this car. IIRC according to Mr. Pinkerton there are many unanswered questions in addition to the things that are visibly wrong. I wouldn’t touch it for anywhere near the asking price.
