On a warm summers Friday night in 1971, Just cashed paychecks in our pockets my good buddy Brent and I were out doing our nightly seek and destroy. This night I was driving my Nordinc Blue with a white vinyl top 427 GTE/XR7. As we are cruising Lake st. up on my right side pulls a 1970 plum Crazy Cuda with 440 badges on it. The Driver yells over “Do you want to race” Brent looks me in the eyes and I staired back him. Big grins appeared as I tell him to tell the Cuda guys sure but not down town that we would have to take it to the freeway. Upon being told that, the Driver of the Cuda Asks “How much money did we have” Brent and I each wip out our wallets and start flashing money around. The two in the Cuda discuss it and then ask in a less enthusiastic tone How about we do it just for fun of it" We agree and head for the freeway(35w I think) which crosses Lake St. Well it was no race. The Big 440 just didn’t have what it takes. We beat him by many car lengths. On our return trip back to Lake St. Brent gets the driver to roll his window down to asks if he wants to go it again for some money this time. The drivers only answer was Whats a 7 liter anyway ? …I sure got asked that question alot !
Great story. I love the part “what is a 7 liter anyway”.

Yup, liters were the newfangled european measures
I love it!
I used to do that in the '70’s with a Mazda RX2, when they were as scarce as hens teeth and most thought it was a Datsun Sunny or similar, I used take on run of the mill Valiant and Falcons of the time and leave 'em all in my dust.
That WAS a great story! I love a good FORD/MERC kicks Mopar butt story!!!
