Hard shifting

Car was shifting great before I changed my radiator. I took the radiator out and pushed it in to the driveway to flush cooling system and then I couldn’t push it back in so I started it just long enough to back it in, forgetting that the transmition was connected to to radiator. Needless to say I pumped trany fluid about 20 feet long trail and about 5 ft inside the shop. A total mess. After putting the new radiator in, new antifreeze and topped off the atf I lost. now it doesn’t want to shift from 1st to 2nd after it warms up. This morning it was shifting great until it warmed up, it will shift out of first if I manually do it. Can to much fluid (barely over the full line) be to much? I’m going to use my transfer pump and remove excess atf I’ll let you all know what happens. Well, it is really hard to tell when it’s full, checking when it’s hot, idling in park, one time it’s over full next check its low 3rd check its full so what is it. Still not shifting smooth. But it is shifting. Any advice appreciated

Update so after reading the manual it turns out that proper way to top off trany fluid is after its warmed up and while Idleing set parking brake and run thru each gear then back to park and check the fluid level if you add more do it all again until full, makes all the difference. It’s shifting much better, I was apparently low instead of a false reading By the way I’m new at this mechanican on cars thing but I am learning, some times the hard way. If I would only read the entire instructions. My wife would say it’s typical cause I usually don’t read the destructions at all or just glance at them.

Yep, I have destroyed a few things not reading the instructions first. But we man don’t need stinking instructions. Real men can fix any thing with out them.(and end up paying more to have it fixed)
