On my 73 Vert the 4way/hazard/emergency flashers do not flash, they just stay solid on, dash, front, rear all. I have replaced the flasher relay but have the same symptom. Any suggestions?
I think there are two relays. One for hazard and one for turn signal. I had that problem with a Mustang so I’m guessing that the Cougar might be the same. Hope that helps.
Steven
Yes Steven, there are 2, or at least from what I have been able to find They are both different and the turn signals work fine which is the real head scratcher.
Thanks for the reply tho
Bump Anybody else, anything? Brake lights work, reverse lights work, sequentials work, turn signals work all as they should. But emergency just stay on steady all the way around.
Thanks Scott, the shop manual says the hazard flashers are broken down into 6 items, (1) 15 amp circuit breaker, I assume since the lights come on thats good. But I did meter all the fuses anyway (2) hazard warning flasher, replaced, no change, possible 2 bad flashers with same problem? it wasnt new, out of another cougar and I cant verify it was working in the other one (3) Turn Signal and Hazard Indicator switch assembly, turn signals work properly, hazards light up when the switch is pulled so I assume thats good (4) Transistorized Sequencer Assembly in trunk, I assume thats the same for the turn signals which work fine, (5) 2 indicator bulbs, I assume thats the turn signal bulbs in the cluster which also work fine with the turn signals, (6) The 8 outside lights which all work fine in their other jobs. Reading through what I just wrote I guess I should try and find somewhere to get a new flasher ?
