Heater Core..

Well…

I spent the last couple of days replacing the leaking heater core in my 67. I can’t say that it was the most difficult HC job I’ve done(Read: Volvo 240 for the most frustrating), but it wasn’t much fun. The heater box was cracked in several places, as well being ‘warped’. There was a dead critter on top of the box as well.

I did my first ever fiberglass work on this box. It aint pretty, but it seems to be holding. Don’t count on me for any concourse Corvette bodywork though…

I am happy that it’s finished and the heat works better now. Also, I’m thankful for these forums and the other resources that I came across on the internet. I would still be scratching my head if it weren’t for the good folks that are willing to sharing their information and tips.

Those under dash repairs are my least favorite.
Last year I was struggling to replace a power booster in the 70 , and ended up bruising my ribs to the point of some discomfort for several months after.
Old age apparently!

Yes, I have got to get up into repairing the heater core in the 69 and am not looking forward to it. I had rebuilt it all not long before the motor was rebuilt. The engine builder said it leaked as soon as he started the engine. Not sure if it is something I did wrong or something just wasn’t right, or was broken by the engine builder. The heater core is just bypassed right now and really don’t need the heater or defroster since I won’t be driving in the winter, but, might be nice to have when needed.
