Hello from a new member!

Hello CCC!!
My name is Terry. Im a 35 year old drywaller from Irricana, Ab. - about 40 miles NE of Calgary, Ab.
Got my 1967 Cougar std. about 2 1/2 years ago. It had sat in a barn uncovered for 13 years. It was driven in under its own power!
When I got it home, I tore into it. It needs floors replaced just down from the firewall, basically toe boards I guess. It needs rear quarter work. The lower parts are pretty rusty.
It had been in a crash at some point, so it needed a passenger side fender, door, and front valence. I picked those up pretty cheap!!
Other than that, the car was complete! All glass and chrome are good! The motor ran just fine, and all electrical works! Even the sequentials work, although they are quite glitchy!
I was given a 1985 Ford Crown Vic that ran quite well. It had been written off in a hit and run. It had a 351w/AOD combo, so I thought that would be a good platform to work from.
My plans for now are to install a 4 bbl carb with an edelbrock intake, some shorty headers, dual exhaust, and 3.73 gears in the rear end. Ive aquired a 9" rear with disc brakes from a 1980 Lincoln Versailles. Im still debating if I should use that rear end, or keep the 8".
This project might take me 10 years to complete, but I think it will be fun! I have no intention of doing a full on concours resto. (obviously!!) I just want to fix it up so it can be driven on nice summer days! A cool old car thats pretty rare around these parts!
Im thinking satin black, with 17" wheels. Keep the original green interior, but with black carpet and headliner.

Welcome to CCC, Terry. Post pics of the car when you get time. John

Posted some pics in my gallery. Car is in pretty rough shape right now. Lots of time and effort is all it needs!! Oh and a few $$$!!

That’s all they ever need! Welcome, and good luck on your project!

Welcome, welcome!

Hours and dollars… that’s all any Cougar needs, unless you have 6 digits worth of dollars. If you do, go to Barret-Jackson or the like and save the hours!

By the way: If you continue with this project, especially as a ‘Resto-Mod’, you must understand that you’ll NEVER be done! There will always be an issue with “How about if I…” or “Wouldn’t it be cool if…”
With THAT sickness, you’re only looking at MORE “Hours and dollars”

Welcome indeed!

Welcome aboard

Welcome to the CCC. Its great to have another new member. Good luck with your project and enjoy every hour and every minute.
