Help with '67 Hockey Stick Install

I am trying to install my “Hockey Stick” trim by the rear quarter windows and can not figure out if the SS drip piece goes under the hockey stick or on top of it? See the photos.

I have looked through all the Hockey stick posts and it is still not clear to me which side of the hockey stick the drip part goes o?. If I place the SS drip part under the Hockey stick, the hockey stick will not sit flush with drip rail on the body. It does lay nicely on top of the hockey stick though. Thanks!

The drip rail should go over top of the hockey stick.

If your talking about the drip rail trim, this picture should illustrate what previous poster described. Don’t forget to install the rivot through the hockey stick slot into the drip rail hole (I had to redrill mine - inadvertantly welded ‘em up when I repaired the old rusted drip rail…) before installing the drip rail trim (last step).

Hi, thanks everyone for the replies. I think I may have confused everyone. I was not talking about the chrome drip rail that extends all around the door opening that snaps on, I was asking about the thin piece of “sheet metal” like strip that sits under the roof weatherstrip molding and extends down to the hockey strip. This part is riveted into the body. You can see in my photo behind the hockey stick I am holding. This is the part that I can’t figure out if it goes under or on top of the hockey stick.

It goes behind the hockey stick. I just went to peek at mine to see what you’re referring to.

If it helps anyone better, there is a diagram in back of the shop manual, p.18-19. It is called the side drip rail extension moulding-4-rivets and some sealer.

Thanks for taking the time to get a photo. I may have to “massage” the side drip rail extension to get the hockey stick back far enough for rivet. It does look better that way. I will also check out the shop manual. The repro assembly manual is pretty vague. It shows dotted lines that I assume mean that part of the drip rail are hidden underneath the hockey stick.

For some other reason my side drip rail extension hone has 3 holes for rivets.

This part went through several different versions. Not all cars got the rivet. The reproduction part had to be compatible with every version but I think it is common to have to massage the installation a bit.

Actually, I might be wrong-I’m sorry.

After further review :)…..that side drip rail extension looks like it is on top of hockey stick-looking at mine. Don’t know for sure. It’s just hard for me to understand the illustration.

I’ll hope someone else knows for sure.

I think the “dotted” line outline implies it is hidden under, but what do I know. Once again photos on disassembly are priceless when it comes to my time. Thanks for posting the shop manual pages.

I would really like to make sure before I deploy the rivet gun.

In hindsight, I believe the 1st reply is correct. I’m pretty sure now that the hockey stick is placed under the drip rail extension molding.

I think the dotted line is the piece of the side drip rail extension molding at the bottom that is not seen after installation.
I feel after step 11 is when the hockey stick is attached. Before installing the drip rail molding in step 12.

That’s what I’m looking at, but I know this cat has been repainted

Ok, I think we have run this one to ground. That drip rail extension rivets in to the body (3) and then hockey slips under it very nicely as the photos show. The “dotted line” is referring to the weather strip channel that runs over the top of the drip rail extension and is partially hidden by the hockey stick. Doing it this way made it easy to get the hockey stick to line up with the rivet hole in the body.

Thanks again for all the help and photos!
