Hoarder of Cougars? Discovery Channel Has New Show

Jim Pinkerton sent a Hollywood scout for the Discovery Channel my way looking for folks who fit the criteria below and live in the Pacific or Mountain time zones (West Coast). I have a friend who fits the bill in every way perfectly but like many hoarders he will not listen to reason. I (selfishly) want to see a Cougar done. Even if they do not show where they get the parts from (and they said they would) It behooves all of us to see our marque get some positive screen time and show that early Cougars are very much viable projects in 2013. One last criteria (and this is where my local friend will not budge) the person must agree to sell of some projects to pay for the parts needed to complete a car. All labor will be free. PM me if you know of a Cat hoarder that fits the bill. You did not hear it from me but they will look the other way if said person does not quite have 12 or more projects and a few friends or club members drag some projects over to park in their yard for a week or two. In no way am I saying reality TV is not 100% real at all times, LOL!

"It was very nice speaking with you and thank you again for your assistance. I am representing a Los Angeles television production company that is preparing a show that will focus on assisting automobile restorers who have amassed a large number of auto restoration projects, but due to lack of time or funding, have not had the chance to complete any of them. And due to the number of vehicles they have, they are now being pressured to get rid their collection. By helping them focus on completing the restoration of at least one of their projects, we hope to be able to assist them get the funding for parts and we our show would take care of the labor costs. I come to you to request your help in suggesting people who you may know thru your business that have vehicles intending to restore them but have not done so. I’m looking for men or women, and in a perfect world, they would have between 15 and 30 unfinished projects. Simply, I’m searching for any car collector who is hoarding cars and has amassed a large inventory of unrestored, preferably classic, cars who might be open to our coming in and helping them complete at least one of their projects. We are looking to begin filming this series within the next 3 to 4 weeks, so we would like to find our participants as soon as we possibly can. I am focusing particularly on people in Washington State and Oregon, but if you know of anyone in the West who fits my criteria, that information would be welcome.

Thank you in advance for your time, and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Weldon"

I can muster 10 Cougars and 4 Land Cruisers. Have a 428 convertible that needs restoring  - just tell them to bring the smog and nodular diff with the (3.0 tractionlock)

Thank God I don’t qualify for this, even if I was a left coaster.

The CCOA received the following similar message through the “contact us” form on the website:

Hi Cougar Club of America,

You might be able to help me. The company I am working for NERD TV - (> http://www.nerdsite.co.uk> ) are casting for a new car series for one of the major US broadcasters and I was hoping you might circulate this email along with the flyer attached to anybody you think might be interested or might know somebody that would. (the more people I get this out to the better!)

Essentially we are looking for people who have relatively large car collections, ideally 12+ vehicles, that are in various states of repair. We have two world experts who are going to visit collections and value certain cars. They then will negotiate how best to restore a certain car for the owner…using other parts and cars from their collection. The collection will fund some of the work but there will be a full team working to restore and customise in a 24 hour garage. The whole process would take a number of weeks with incredible results.

If this sounds like something you might be interested in or somebody you know might be, please pass on my email. The next phase would be that we send out a questionnaire for them to fill out.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have. The email address to direct people to is > cars@nerdtv.co.uk > or they can reply directly to > simon@nerdtv.co.uk

We are based in London but the series is for the US. A few of my colleagues are out in the States over the next couple of months.

There might be somebody that you guys know involved at the Cougar Club of America that might be keen or they might know just the person. All is kept in the strictest confidence.

Many thanks,

Simon

The chap that called me was in fact a Brit.

All they have to do is jump in the car and go for a drive. I can’t imagine you would have a hard time finding somebody inside of a week. Whether or not they would be intersted is another story - some hoarders are freindly - others don’t like you poking around! Ever see American Pickers? (lived down the river from me when I was growing up) If they really wanted a challenge they would come to the midwest or east coast! (Maybe that’s why they are looking out there huh? LOL I could give them a 69 vert and 68 XR7…one of which is “easy” there is a guy out by Mason CIty that has a yard full of 40’s vintage cars

Hmmm…this sounds interesting. I almost have enough projects.

I actually did think of you and I would loan you as many as you need… Let me know, the guy called again today looking for guys like you!

Empty the yard on em Don!

What about us poor shmuck’s in Minnesota, bogged down by infinite delays and scratching our heads figuring out where we went wrong? HELP is needed.

I thought of you too!!

The one who’d REALLY fit the billing, though, is Red…he’d be hilarious on a show like this…

Even better would be You-Know-Who in Central Oregon, now that I think of it… :licka: But do they want all of the cars to be similar models?

Hahaha!! Too bad they won’t come to Kansas CityI have a warehouse with.
4 cougars… Three convertibles and one hardtop. Ones a CJ car. A '65 riviera GS, 60 Cadillac limo, 2 '70 Electra convertibles,
And an '85 mustang GT.

Would love to get the CJ started…

Have shelves full of cougar fenders, doors, bumpers, grills…

… If we can “Cheat” I can add three '67 cougars. And 2 more '69 coupes (one’s a 390 XR7)…

Where in MN? Seems there’s no one on the forums that’s from MN or WI.
I’m hoarding cats, but they’re of the feline persuasion.

I thought about it, but I don’t think I can do it. I am down on projects from last year. Last year I had three cars for sale, now I have one. I couldn’t “raise” money as fast as the show would want me to to buy parts. I don’t pay retail prices (swap meets is where I excel), so they wouldn’t like my speed of gathering parts. They would probably want me to sell something that is on my “to do” list that I don’t want to sell. Sounds like a cool idea and fun show to watch, but I don’t think it will fit for me at this time. Just bad timing or maybe I am just too much of a hoarder…haha…oh well. :stuck_out_tongue:
