The lever spring on my hood latch is broken. Should I replace it with another original latch or get a repop? This is for my 1969. I plan on driving it for fun and at highway speeds so is a repop a safer bet than a 50 plus year old original that may have a lever spring ready to break?
NOS hood latches go for $60 or so on eBay. I’m not sure if they’re reproduced as a different from Mustang in the same year. There’s also an earlier and later design. I would have no problem running an original as long as it’s in good shape.
Sounds like the latch handles got longer and easier to use. Not sure if the mustang latches were the same. Not sure about the quality of the reproductions verses a old latch after discovering my spring was broken.
They’re not reproduced, so used or NOS are your only options. Plenty are available of both.
Mustang is different, the latch handle goes straight out vs. a 90 degree angle.
