Horns

My passenger side horn is not working on the 69. Is the passenger side the low or high pitch horn?

Passenger Side is the Low Pitch Horn

Hello everyone,

sorry for using this old thread, don‘t wanna start a new one for this „boring“ question:

Does it make a difference switching the high/low tone horn from passenger to driver side? Is there any „rule“ or does it matter?

Thanks and regards

(I have a ’67 XR7)

Shouldn’t matter as long as you have a high and low horn, otherwise it won’t sound right.

The drivers side horn was the ‘hi’ pitched horn, and pointed towards the driver. The passenger side horn was the ‘lo’ pitched horn, and pointed towards the road / away from the vehicle. It didn’t matter if the horns were on opposite sides of the radiator, or mounted together on the passenger side ( with the drag pack option / oil cooler ) - the orientation of the horn opening was always the same. The rationale for this was that the high pitch sound would be more easily heard by the driver ( over the engine + road noise ) if it were pointing towards them. The lower pitched horn, with it’s opening oriented away from the vehicle would project its sound forward and away from the car.
