How do I disconnect the door accessory harness from the under dash harness: 1969 xr7?

On a 69, Where do I access the door harness to dash harness junctions? Do I have to drop the entire lower dash? Looks probably too high to be accessed by the kicker panels?

I’m trying to chanse down a short on the accessory circuit, fuse #6, the 14a, blows immediately whenever it’s replaced. I’m trying to disconnect everything associated in the circuit. I’ll probably replace the door harnesses while it’s disconnected.

Thank you!
Eric

The plug is accessible with the dashpad out. I’m not sure if there is an easier way like removing the kick panel and disconnecting the vent tube to get access from underneath.

With or without AC?

To unplug that harness you need to remove the dash pad, that will get you the passengers side. To access the drivers side plug you may also need to remove the instrument cluster.

With AC. Dash pad is out. I’m not seeing the plug. I guess I’ll keep looking for it and digging around!

The dash pad and instrument cluster are out. I’m just not seeing the connections for the door harness. I’ll keep looking, thanks!

With A/C the ductwork will be helping to hide the connections. I would remove the kick panels then you will be able to see the where the wiring from the door enters the door jamb. Once you see that you can just follow the wiring to the connections. You should be able to unplug them from under the lower dash panel.

Copy that! I’ll take another look around in there tomorrow. Thank you.

Update, yes the door harness connectors can be gotten from the top. They’re bullet connections and another type of single wire clip connection. I was looking for a m/f plug type connector. I did wind up pulling the lower dash for reasons, so the entire dash harness is now on its way to midlife for a rebuild. Instead of chasing electrical problems I’m going to just start fresh with a known good harness.
Thanks for the help!!
