This 70 351 Orange 4 speed has been listed a few times now with each and every time not meeting the reserved price. The highest bid it has received was $23,800.00
The guy on his classic car website has it listed for $39,900.00 (40k).
I Think the reason the car isn’t doing as well as he might want, is the Marti shows a Three speed trans W/ competition suspension. the car has a 4-speed & no sway bar. Little details count too (Cheap Trunk mat, & Slotted Head screws securing the gas tank). wrong color combo for the Interior. If it doesn’t match the Marti report, It ain’t worth the $$$$, IMO
The car shows nicely with the color combination but appears to be a driver quality restoration missing all the little details that take a car over the top. If this were not an Eliminator, It would probably be worth $13-$15K. Add in what the Eliminator package is valued at and you have your price. I’d say a total of between $21K-$25K would be fair, depending on how bad someone wants THIS car. Personally, I wouldn’t pay over $20K since it needs a complete restoration to meet my standards. These “tweener” cars are the hardest to value since they cost just as much to restore as one that is in far worse cosmetic condition.
Personally I think he should have sold it for the $23,800. I agree with both of the previous posts. It needs to match and it needs a better restoration to be worth more to me.
Personally, Like the car, I think $23.8K was all of the money. To me, this looks like a car that I would want to drive a lot. Banging gears in this thing would be a lot of fun. I would have to add air, and get rid of the crap head-unit, but otherwise it looks like a solid enough car from the pictures.
OK, in all honesty, since Mark isn’t playing along…I wouldn’t change it, either, and have no problems with the car…Mark and I have a…what?..three?..year history of me calling his car “Chebby” orange, and his motor being “Chebby” orange, and him calling MY car “The Heap”(after dubbing it “The Allowance”). So, the WHOLE point of saying “It’s ORANGE” was to poke at him……I’m QUITE certain, at some appropriate moment, he will zinger me back…
I would not pay more than $23K. There are two many other choices. The 4 speed / 3 speed has me even questioning that $$.
I would use factory air under the dash and new stuff under the hood. Looks good and works great.
The headunit is the radio. I might stick a stock radio in the dash and then use a hidden system to actually listen to. The one in the car is the worst in my opinion: looks out of place and sounds bad. Not a good combination.
