How to rebuild the A/C-heater fan switch

Due to the huge increase in prices for repop parts I thought this will help save a few $ for someone!

A/C (left) & Heater only (non A/C) Right

Here’s 2 from A/C units. I blast them with low press glass bead (Ballotini). You can see some in the pics.

Heater- Non A/C

Clean all parts. I used spray brake cleaner. Then fine steel wool on the copper/brass parts. Lubed them up ( I used Dielectric grease, but others can work) & reassembled. Just saved over $50, Other dash switches can be done the same way. Drop of oil on the arm pivot pin too.

Did mine last month along with my toggles. Time well spent.

I hate to tell you that you just sowed the seeds for the next failure. Use bronze wool instead. It doesn’t embed steel into the soft copper/brass which will form an intermetallic corrosion.

Just learned something new.
