I’m referring to the space between the bucket seats. I’d like something there for water bottles, coffee cups, and other “stuff”.

Do a google search for hump hugger and see if that works for you.

A factory console will hold a Console Humphugger which actually makes the console useful.
I used one on my 66 Mustang factory console. I removed the ashtray and attached a block of wood sized fit in the ashtray to the bottom of the Humphugger. That way the Humphugger wouldn’t slide on the factory console.
I have a Humphugger on my 67 XR7 GT. They make two versions dependent on if you have the OE console or not.
Bonus to storage is makes a great arm rest as well as adds cup holders.

That’s great! I looked for that version at Classic Consoles - do I have the correct manufacturer? The version in the picture that fit over the factory console didn’t appear to be there. However, at a vendor I found this one, which is not listed as fitting with a console
Is it the Scott Drake “saddle” console that fits over the factory console?
Cool topic. I am in the process of recreating the top console pad but with an opening that fits my 6R80 shifter. Was thinking to add seat buckle holders, cup holder etc… First I need to get the basics done and see if I can recreate it and make it look good.

From the Classic Consoles website (see installation instructions):
HumpHugger consoles fit securely over the carpeted transmission tunnel (the Hump) between factory bucket seats, using its velcro bottom to attach and hold itself in place. The console will slip over the gear selector using the opening in the console.
I get that. But it is for Mustangs. They said they can’t guarantee it will fit my Cougar. So I was curious if anyone got one. Thx
