I HAD A BREAKDOWN 69 new carb trouble

I joined this community in hopes we all could fix her up together and because nobody knows how to work best on a cougar than actual cougar owners. Im in Southern California…

Neal is one of them & his advice is always solid. I can only add that the wire running under the carb linkage should run along the inside of the valve cover. EDIT: Not the inside, but along the edge facing the intake, and not over the plug wires, underneath so it lays flat. The factory provided a clip or two held by the valve cover bolts for this purpose.

One summer, my daily driver was a '69 AMX 390 4-speed car. If you floored it, the throttle would stick wide open, so I know how interesting that can be in rush hour traffic. That turned out to be something similar: vacuum hose & fuel line that were in the way, I think. I neatened it up & it never recurred.

You’d be surprised how many there are in the Los Angeles area. We are just really spread out, from the High Desert to Orange County. All good folks, many of whom would be willing to help.

In Valencia, a town in the Santa Clarita Valley about 45 min from LA just up the 5 freeway
