I’m trying to determine what color paint markings should go on my Hertz G’s coil springs

I could not identify any of the original markings as they were either way too rust stained or just not much left to begin with. Since I don’t have the build sheet, my next option is the MPC. Since the car has 390-4, C6, AC & P/S, this would be spring code 91. Unless there is something special I missed on what the Hertz-G’s came with:

It’s funny that the MPC doesn’t list the 428.

My Marti report doesn’t mention anything that leads me to believe my car has “Improved Handling”, but when I measure the springs they are 18-3/4 coils, 0.640” dia & 5-3/4 tall, so not code 91 in the MPC. They are closest to being code 1F as far as # of coils, but they are tall enough to be 5A.

Buuut, I have two examples of Hertz-G car that lead me to believe that my car came with Heavy Duty Suspension, because they have Yellow & Gray markings.

Does anyone have anyone know what the color code truly should be? Any Hertz-G buildsheets out there I can take a peak at ?

I restore many of these cars. The front coil springs were originally striped with grey and gold to ID them. These marks were applied to the bare metal with 1” brushes in a hurry. The heat treated springs were painted. The brushes applied a drippy coat sometimes, other times the brush barely applied any paint if the brush had been loaded with paint long ago.

Thanks for replying.

It’s funny that people are choosing Yellow & Gray for their Hert-z G’s. I have 3 examples of that. Doesn’t mean they are correct though.

Perhaps some are looking at a faded or lightly applied gold and thinking that it was originally yellow.

The gold is very close to a yellow so it is easy to misunderstand.

Here is what the gray/gold colors looked like on the original springs from my 68 GT. I replaced them because they had been cut down.
