I screwed up big time

I am restoring my brother’s 1967 Standard Cougar. It was built before 1 / 1 / 1967 so it is considered an early model with the stop lamp relay. I changed out the wiring harness for a better one, and unplugged the jumper wire from the electronic turn signal box to the connector for the stop lamp relay. Unfortunately the wire position is not marked on the box so I don’t know which wire the jumper goes to. Anyone know?

Hi Royce,

Guess I’m feeling helpful today. Don’t know if this will help you but here is the wiring schematic for the 1967 Cougar exterior lamps and turn signal circuit for vehicles built prior to 1/3/67

It’s 3 pages so hopefully you can piece it together. If you need a better scan, let me know.

Much appreciated but what I actually need is the electronic sequencer that Vic Yarberry sells - I need to know where the jumper wire plugs into the brake relay connector?

Sounds like you need to speak with Vic then.

Is early 67 unique?

Well the box is but the jumper likely goes into the same hole in the brake lamp relay connector.

If your electronic signal box has a single long Lt. Blue (or black), it should be plugged into the emergency relay connector socket Lt.Blue wire. It is providing 12V to the electronic controller to put it into turn signal mode. Use electrical tape to secure it from falling out.

Because Ford revamped the stop lamp circuit as of 1/3/67, there are two different electronic controllers for 1967:

C7WY-13366-AS with stop lamp relay

C7WY-13A366-BS without stop lamp relay

If your electronic turn signal box does not have the stop lamp relay connector (4-pin flat black with black, green, green/white, red), you can bypass the relay by connecting the green to the green/white wires. WARNING: This jumper is only recommended when running LED bulbs because the 18ga green/white wire cannot handle the current needed for the six rear 1157 stop light bulbs.

However it is best to obtain a C7SZ-1382-BR brake relay to plug into this connector.

Vic Yarberry

Thanks Vic I have the black wire. I think my brother bought this box 20 years ago from you.
