I'm feeling ripped off x code thread from MC.net

This is my moving a thread discussion from MC.net

I sold the car to red67shelby earlier this year. Here is my listing:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercury-Cougar-XR7-/300967208416

Since selling the car, the new owner painted the hood, removed the original 2.75 rear end and installed some California black plates.

I sold the car with an open Oregon title.

Thanks to Don for bringing this to my/our attention. Also note, the feedback I left him still has this same original listing that is accessible via his feedback. Check it out.

I’m confused Ray. So you sold the car to the guy who this other guy bought it from and feels ripped off. What am I missing?

I am (more than) a bit puzzled too…I read your post 3 times and then waited for someone else to reply hoping the lightbulb would come on.

Lucy! you’ve got some splainin’ to do!

It is alright if I call you Lucy…right?

Hello all
Please let me chime in as I am the one who now owns this car.
you can go to this link and see the whole story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTUPaZAVVcc
The man who sold me this car lied about everything. the condition of the car and even the 31 spine posi rearend. The car was supposed to be "In great shape with No rust or Dents. A great interior. great Chrome an trim, ECT.
The add was a complete lie.
I would not have bid on this car in its current condition had he shown its true condition.

I was about to sell my 67 xr7 because I thought this one was my dream car.

The man intentionally mislead the bidders knowing that with an older car like this the buyer has no recourse short of sewing which from long distance like this the odds are against me.

He knows what he did and he wont even talk to me.

Sellers like that give Ebay a bad name. I will never buy a car long distance again, I just hate that it cost me $9500 and 50 years to learn my lesson.

I just looked at his feedback from my end and it doesn’t show any information on his previous purchases.
Maybe you can see it as the seller? Although when I follow the link you gave here I see it and I see you were far more accurate in your discrption than him.

you see I checked his feedback and there was only one negative the rest were all positive.

Your video is private.

I read Ray’s post on this topic over on MCnet and now I understand, it was just that he prefers to do his posting here.

P.S. My take is that footbrake should use every avenue and possibility to try and get something done about the bag he was left holding.

sorry about that. Its fixed.

Contact your Sheriff’s office and file fraud charges. If they can’t help contact the sellers Sheriff’s Department if you don’t have any luck contact the local distric attorney. I did this in the past and with all of these different departments and offices contacting my seller he called me and made a monetary adjustment that made sense to both of us. It’s worth a try and the phone calls don’t cost much more than the time it takes to place it. Good luck.
Steven

I will try to keep this short, there was a car sold here in Va. that was suppose to be rare and so forth and so on, it passed through three people in Va. before being sold to an out of stater whom did the research and found out it was not as described. After trying to settle with the person he bought it from, that person said that was the way he bought it and so did the second person and so did the first. He took it to court here in Va. proved his point, and the Judge made all three previous owners split the cost of the car, and let the out of state owner keep the car. so you do have options.

I’m a little confused by this post since it has nothing to do with the first seller; sure Don mentioned him as being the first seller but does it really matter? As for Footbrake I would take the advice Catlover gave you and get the law involved in the state the seller is located in. Best of luck…

RAK1, I think it matters in the the car had been appropriately represented to the seller, and more importantly the folks on the board tend to have each others back. I hve personally looked at several cars for people that needed rust free Arizona sheet metal. And I have other board members check cars out for me. (thanks Cougar Bill!) So when a car comes up in question and it used to belong to a board member, it kind of deserves full disclosure.

I agree with Bill relative to the fact that he knew what he was selling. When I sold it, it did NOT have the Black Plates. Those were his invention. The car is not what I call a survivor as it has been painted a different color and has a driver grade interior. The car really is a nice dry car relative to rust. I still have the original VIN Stamped engine and trans in my barn. Are you interested in them? The block is salvageable. The story goes…it ran out of oil while running and seized. One of the rods let go but did not damage the block. I have the whole long block still bolted to the VIN stamped trans. The carb and some of the bracketry is missing. Call me if you’d like 248-867-3522 Ray

I would put continued pressure on him from all angles (and there are many conventional and unconventional) to forfeit the profit he made. You could agree to eat the shipping costs as a quick post here would have either pointed you to the previous listing or you could have enlisted somebody’s help from here to inspect the car. He cannot plead ignorance as the car was correctly documented by Ray. I was recently involved in a Cragslist Scam and after getting no results I let the seller know I was going to the relatives door at the address where the transaction took place. Never got a 100% refund so fast in my life and a nervous call BEGGING me not to mention anything about the shenanigans they were up to.

Thanks for all the ideas.
I did get in touch with him by phone today ( used a different phone)
I caught him in so many lies throughout the conversation you couldn’t believe.
He even accused Ray of telling him it had the 31 spline posi, until I told I had talked to ray .
I also gave him several chances to try and make good on it. I even offered to let him off if he would return the difference of what I paid and what he paid. I tried everythong and he wouldn’t move.

In my 50 years I have never had to deal with such a person. But rest assured I will not let him off easy.
I will use everything you guys have said and any other ideas you have, ( keep’em coming)

After seeing Rays Add I rememberedd the car When he sold it.
I didn’t bid on it in September because Ray told the truth and it was not what I wanted.

Anyway Thanks everyone.
I will be frequenting this board more often now, as I own 3 cougars and 2 mustangs and can use all the advice I can get.

Since you even know his name and number, go post your story on Pirate 4x4. They’ll take care of him. He’ll be begging you to take your money back. If you aren’t familiar with the story go Google “wenzeled”. Then prepare to spend about 5 hours reading the thread.

I only found a five pager (MadRam was the stuckee as I recall) and did not get the impression that one or more persons actually went to the persons door, maybe I missed the “grand daddy” of wenzeled threads?

You know where he lives?

give his name and address to everything you can find on the Internet that is free! (that’ll keep him busy for a while)
