INspection Plate Dimensions? C4 Bellhousing

My 67 C4 has a weird bellhousing I think. It was missing the inspection plate so I ordered a standard one from WCCC. I ended up sending it back due the bolts holes not lining up. My bellhousing has wider dimensions. THe ENgine has been rebuilt, and the spacer plate looks crappy, its got some of the lower section cut out. So I figure a PO put a off-model C4 bellhousing on it.

I am wondering is there’s anywhere that I can look up the bolt hole dimensions? Maybe I can figure out what type of bellhousing I have before pulling the tranny just to find out…
Thanks.

It is likely that the C4 transmission that you have came from another car line. The correct number for the C4 inspection cover on 1967-68 Cougar and 1965-73 Mustang is C5DZ-7986-B.
Ford lists another C4 inspection cover with a part number of C5AZ-7986-B for 1965 and newer full sized cars with 6 or 8 cylinder engines.

The correct bell housing casting number should be C5OP-7976-A for our Cougars, I cannot find a casting number for the early bell housing that is associated with the C5AZ-7986-B inspection plate.
