Is there a way to take apart a shifter 67 style to slide the boot on
Remove shifter from car. There is a pin that must be driven out to remove the arm. If I recall it was pretty easy. Sorry I don’t have more info (like a pic) but it’s been a while since I did one.

Bill , I think you may be mistaken. This is a '67 with the T handle for reverse lock out. I think, except for the round reverse lock out that the '68 is also not easily disassembled. I spray silicone in side and heat up the boot then stretch it out over one side at a time. I am going to have a good cry if I find out I have been doing this wrong for the last 50 years… LOL!
