Here’s the scenario. I have a 69 XR7 that I pulled the dash out to rebuild the heater core and replace the brake booster. While I had it out I replaced the Tach, amp gauge, fuel gauge, that appeared not to work when I purchased the car. While I was in there I decided to replace the printed circuit with a repro , also the voltage regulator. Now I’ve got it back together except for the upper dash I have pulled back off because the gauges aren,t working. When I first cranked it up the low fuel light came on which never happened with the old gauge. That light only came on once and none of the gauges are working. I have checked all the wiring connections and everything appears to be plugged in. Also it appears that I have no power to the heater. Horn works, headlights work but turn signals don’t. Brake lights are on constant but I assume this is because I don,t have the master cylinder hooked up.
Any tips would be much appreciated.
Sounds like you have replaced a lot of things at one time. First I would check the fuses with a volt meter. If you have power to the fuse and it is blown, I would disconnect the instrument cluster and then replace the blown fuses, if everything works and the fuses don’t blow, I would carefully recheck the work you did on the cluster. I had a problem with the plug on the ignition switch on my 69 XR-7. You might want to inspect yours while it is easy for you to get to. I don’t think the tach is effected by the printed circuit on the instrument cluster. I haven’t seen much hand movement on the amp gauge on my 69, I think it moves maybe a little. I trust the remaining instruments. Let me know what you have. I will try to help if you wish.
Thanks for the advice, there was one blown fuse, so Im told its probably a ground problem. I bought some fuses but have not been back into it yet. It will be another week before I get time. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks again.
