Darryll at WCCC suggested I post this for comments.

I’m replacing the green carpet and WCCC carries a replacement green BUT the dataplate that shows an “FY” for the color (Pastel Parchment Crinkle Vinyl & Pastel Parchment Rhino Pattern Vinyl with Nugget Gold) and the trim is “28C”.

The bench seat is now recovered with parchment/off white (same as the original) with the headliner and trim panels being a similar color. The green carpet is apparently not what the FY code indicates - it indicates a brown carpet and a darker headliner. The consensus is that a medium/dark brown carpet would look best and be truer to what Ford says. It’s possible the car was specially ordered (it doesn’t have the optional $15 clock) so perhaps that somehow caused a mix up with the codes.

Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks,
Brad

Match the color of the carpet closest to the seat belts color. I had the same dilemma but different with my parchment interior, go with what the code said was red carpet from the factory or choose a different color. I went with light blue instead to match the cars color and am happy I did. Between the blue paint, white vinyl top, parchment interior, red carpet would have been too much to look at for me.
Pic posted sideways for some reason.

A parchment interior with that code would have a sort of golden color carpet originally. The green may look old, and it probably is, but not likely original to this car.

Saw this video of an original interior car a while back and remembered it because it was so interesting: https://youtu.be/Vh8O0tP6YyQ

If you skip to 8:10 or so you can see that the original brown carpet changes to that green color from sun damage. The portion covered by floor mats stayed brown while the rest of it is the same green as your car.

Thanks for all the responses.

Royce, that color (brown) or something similar was pretty much the consensus at the shop yesterday (and from the poll votes) although based on the overall look of the carpet, I’d have to say it’'s probably original, particularly in view of Steve’s video.

Steve, that video was an eye opener and it looks exactly like what I have. There isn’t a big color difference in spots that couldn’t have gotten any sun even without mats so perhaps the dyes are volatile enough to fade evenly given enough time and heat, even without light.

Mike, I like your choice and I was thinking about putting in the medium aqua which would have a bit similar to the “original” green. I still think it would look good but the brown does seem to be the majority opinion.
