Hey there,
I’m really lucky that I found this forum.
My name is Florian and I do come from Germany and I’m totally in love with muscle cars. In the past my focus was much more in German cars, I do have a Volkswagen Camper and a Golf MK1 Convertible in my garage.
Right now I’m looking for a 68 or 69 cougar, a convertible would be nice, but not a must. The problem is that the market for cougars in Germany is very limited. Therefor I would like to import one from the states. I’m trying to find as much information/buying guides as possible, but nevertheless I do not want to buy a car without seeing and testing it.
I look for a rust and accident free body, as I’m not a pro in body work. From the technical site I would say I can fix most of the problems by myself.
Maybe you guys can help me finding a solid car for a reasonable price. I do check Craigslist everyday, but like I mentioned before its tough to judge a car with 4 pictures.
Welcome to the Classic Cougar Community. It’s great to have another member. Make sure to map your location on the members map. There could be someone close to you in Germany that could help you in your search. Good luck.
Steven

Sometime in June I will be in Stuttgart Germany on business for awhile.
Welcome! Are there any specifics that you are looking for? like XR7 or 4 speed or any other must have items? Any kind of price range? I know you are going to have to spend a lot of money on transport so the budget will be important.
A convertible would be nice, but a coupe is also ok. A xr7 would be nice as well as an gt, but i think they will Not suit to my budget. Coming to the budget. I could spent 10k for a car, I found a few adds on craigslist in the Price range of 6 to 10k. But it’s hard to judge a car only by the picture.
I am not looking for a Show Car, just a solid base, which needs some technical or cosmetic work.
What did you think regarding my price range?
Is that 10k range for the car and transport or just the car?
reguardless , Id look into what it would cost to transport a car over there, then add a 1k to it just incase they tack on a few fees ( transportation to the coast, fuel, etc, etc)
The best thing to do is once you find one that your pretty serious about. Put a post on here and see if their is a forum member close by who can check it out in person for you.
