Kickdown cable for FMX

I have a 1970 Cougar XR7 with 351c 2v and FMX transmission.
I have the S shaped rod for the transmission kickdown and it doesn’t appear to be correct. Do I need an actual cable instead of the rod for the kickdown? Thanks!

I have a 69, the kickdown ROD is the de’ regur. Im not aware of any cable applications from ford.

No kickdown cables - the S shaped rod is correct. It connects directly between the carb throttle linkage and the transmission.
