1968 xr7 want competition springs anyone have experience or suggestions west coast cougars has a pair for $350 , eaton has a pair for $750?
Have bought the Eaton springs several times for both Mustang and Cougars of various years. Not recommended. Lots of trouble with ride height. Very expensive heavy items to ship. Way overpriced.
No experience with WCCC but it has to be better.
I’ve had just the opposite experience with Eaton. They have the blueprints to build factory exact springs using correct density iron cut to width and length. It helps a lot that they’re local to me and I pick them up at the factory. Eaton will ask if you have modified the weight of your car and compensate accordingly with a correct spring.
JRS. best prices & no issues with ride height ever. 66-311

Last time I bought they were about $89 each + shipping by UPS
66-311 is a 390 competition handling.
Thanks guys.
Does anyone know the measurements from wheel center to top of rear fender or ground to top of rear fender for stock ride height ?
My springs are original and have sagged but like the current height . I just want to stiffen the rear suspension a bit.
Here’s the description WCCC has for those springs.
“All of our springs are intended to return the car to factory height. Because of that, installing new springs will almost always increase the height of the rear of the car, as the factory leafs sag over the years. The competition springs will sit slightly lower than standard springs, somewhere between 1/2" and 1" lower. The competition springs cause the car to have a slightly lower the center of gravity and the competition springs are a stiffer spring, so these factors combine to help provide improved handling”
I’ve watched his replacement video but he doesn’t measure at the wheel
I have a set of recently re-arched springs off of my 67 Base if you are interested. Very low miles on them. It did raise the rear somewhat bit they weren’t on the car long enough to settle. Pic is with the stock re-arched springs.
I switched my car to the Calvert split mono-leafs.
What is your location?
I’ve installed six sets from Eaton Detroit (no relation to Eaton). Two sets on the same Mustang. The springs from Eaton Detroit sagged after around six months. Eaton replaced them under warranty but they would not pay for labor or return shipping. Second set was OK.
The other four pair went on Cougars. All of them were extremely high, with the suspension at its absolute limit. I paid for three sets to be re - arched to the proper ride height instead of paying return shipping. The fourth set was on a customer’s car, she didn’t mind the rear of the car being way high.
