This past Friday (8/2), I received a bill from Texas Tollways" for a whopping $6.55. Funny thing is that I live in Wisconsin and haven’t been to the great state of Texas in almost 9 years! The license plate cited on the bill is indeed the license plate on my '67 Cougar and the only thing I figure is that someone might have seen it in one of my public Photobucket photos and made a fake. My car hasn’t been more than 40 miles from home all year!
**** Might be time to photoshop your plates out of your pics. ****
Should be a fun phone call to Texas Tollways tomorrow morning!
Dan I know when I was down in Florida last year the turnpike toll is by photo if you don’t have a Sun Pass. When I received my bill it clearly showed the plate and a picture of my wife’s car. Did they have the photos attached to your bill or just a plate number?
Steven
No photo included with the bill. I will follow up after I make the call.
Here’s the follow up…
The vehicle was a MACK TRUCK. Unfortunately, Wisconsin issues a variety of plates and they sometimes have the same number.
Had a good laugh with the folks down in Texas, though!
Yeah I thought it would turn out like this. I would bet that the odds of someone manufacturing a fake license plate based on a photo of a car on the net are pretty much 0.
Glad to hear you got it resolved in a way that involved laughing rather than crying and/or punching!
