Looking for 1968 Cougar

Looking for a 1968 Cougar, Lime green, manual transmission(preferred),without the vinyl top. It was dad’s and the first car I ever owned. Can’t believe he sold it, but I didn’t know better back then to hold on.

Do you have the vin number?

Also last known location and/or license plate number.

Was thinking about tracking it down. Trying to locate those numbers. Do you know if the CA DMV can get that based on his information(Name, address etc)? I may try to go down there to see, but getting that cougar would be ideal(Assuming its not completely trashed)

It’s highly unlikely that you get any information from the DMV. Rebecca Schaeffer was an actress killed by a stalker after obtaining information from the DMV.

I would suggest starting with family paperwork, insurance policies and see if you can find the VIN number. If you obtain the VIN, I’d contact Phil Parcells at the CCOA and see if it has been added to the database.
I hope this helps.

I have a completely restored 68 XR7 in Lime Frost with original 302 4V, auto transmission and diff. I found it in North Dakota but it was originally from California. It is in heated storage for the winter but if you are interested I am thinking of selling in the spring.

You may want to check old insurance records that may be on file still with whatever company you insured it under. Who knows, you may get something.

This one is in Utah. Will require a bit of bodywork. I went and looked at it a while ago. He does have all parts.

I believe the original poster is looking for his father’s Cougar. It’s been a couple of weeks, I wonder if he found it?
