Found this on Hemmings, looks like it’s a G. Could be a good resto candidate?

They list a VIN starting with 8R91F so if that is a correct VIN then it is not a G. Or it could be a misprint and they really meant 8R93F. But then again I thought that all the G cars were built in Dearborn, not San Jose.
Interesting, It sure looks like a Sun roof G and states it is a theft recovery.

ture a 302 2V it can’t be a Hertz rent a racer. But the G package could be had with any engine any 68 XR-7 could get except the 427.
One of the pics shows “no VIN” written on the windshield.
I can’t figure out why the package tray and bracing behind the rear seats have been cut out, as it appears they have been.
Are those “G” emblems on the c pillars?
It does, but in the text it has the VIN I posted and it should be stamped in to the fender aprons. The only round C pillar emblems used in 69 were on XR7-Gs. But maybe Royce will see this can chime in.
All Gs were built in Dearborn and all have the 93 body code in the VIN. Looks like someone needed a whole bunch of parts for their project Cougar, 'cause there’s not much left here. Picked pretty clean.
Doesn’t look like a factory ASC sunroof.
Looks like it still has a tilt column and disc brake booster.
G cars should have come crom from Dearborn and started out as an xr7. There four the vin should start out as 8f93 and the dash and steering column would have been painted black/ charcole in color. I didn’t see any holes drilled in the radiator support for the hood pins. So I would guess this is a standard body cougar with a sunroof.
My miss; all I did was copy the VIN and past it. I really didn’t pay attention to this being a San Jose car. It is hard to tell if the hole is for a aftermarket or a factory Sun roof IMHO with out putting eyes on the car it self. I can tell it was not a green car from the factory. It may be a solid platform for a build and does come with a tilt and disc brakes.
It’s a clone. May or may not be a factory sunroof, sure looks like it was.
