Loose Fan Pulley

I can wobble my cooling fan forward and back just a bit. Is this normal?

If not, is there a way to tighten up the fan pulley to stop this?

My fan has 4 bolts attaching it to the pulley. Do I just tighten those some more?

I have a video of the wobble but am not sure how to or if I can upload it here.

Thanks for any help

Is the fan loose.
Or is the water pump shaft wobbling.
May need a new water pump.
Leaking any coolant?

Coolant is leaking from somewhere. I can’t pinpoint it. But it sprays on the passenger side fender near the solenoid. I am in the process of replacing the radiator, hoses, thermostat, and water pump. I just checked and the water pump shaft does wobble so I guess that’s what caused the wobble. I’ve heard FlowKooler is a good replacement.

Also thinking about replacing the fan clutch and fan while everything is off. May as well put on new belts too.

Is there anything else I should think of changing at this time?

If you’re feeling adventurous, might as well do the heater core. Then your entire cooling system is new.

Might as well do the timing chain. You’re 90% there with pump removed. Critical if yours is original.

If you are replacing the water pump anyway, I would not worry about the wobble now. Just make sure everything is tight when you are done and recheck for wobble then. And yes, new belts!

I was thinking about the timing chain but am worried I might screw it up. I have never done any timing before. I guess I’ll check out some videos and see if its within my wheelhouse. Did a quick search for a timing chain at West Coast Classic Cougars and one did not come up. Where do I get a replacement?

Shouldn’t be hard to find.
Did a quick check, NAPA and Summit have them.
