Lower control arm ball joint?

67 is a different arm due to the strut rod having a bushing inline, and a narrower bolt pattern.

Most 67 have swapped to 68 later strut rods to avoid this issue, as the lower repop 67s were not avail for years.

The “shock washer” in this image:

is for the front ‘sway’ / stabilizer bar ( to prevent shredding of the bushings ), if I’m not mistaken.

you are correct, meant sway bar end link washer! Moog originally had separate washers.

if you really wanted some us made ones, I’m sure the holes could be filled and redrilled.

Contact OT to find out where they’re made. They do look better than the RK/equivalents.

I confess I don’t know the brand.

Or you can modify your LCA’s to accept screw-in ball joints with the OT kit.

cheaper prices on roller spring perches and roller LCA

Look like a modification to the ACP LCA.

Right you are! Still low quality with a “home made” solution for a large cost difference. I’m trying to find a realistic solution w/ out reinventing the wheel.

So, what I am going to do.

  1. Order a set of “MOOG RK series arms.
  2. Order a set of lower ball joints from “Eclassics”
  3. Order a set of “Proforged lower ball joints.
Once I have them, Ill test the ball joints “resistance” to a force. The only way I can think of is to thread the nut onto the ball joint till it bottoms out. I”ll then take a inch pound torque wrench and turn each & record the reading. My thought is since I dont have a lab to do this the best I can think of is a “twist” test.

There is a company offering just the arm w/ no ball jopint. Problem is the 1st replacement ball joint does not have the extra metal “tongue” that the strut rod goes thru, leaving only “Pro..” brand that has the tongue. Stay tuned!

What’s your opinion about the ‘roller bushing’ Bill? I always thought it would be nice to see engineering data to justify.

Justifying paying more is a personal choice, just like favorite color.

I have roller spring “perches” on the Restomod. I had plain reg. style for years, and switched. honestly I hardly noticed if any. So cost will always be the issue for any “modified” part.

I started this topic due to a dilemma of an available quality part(s). In keeping with the original idea ,i will be posting the results as soon as all the parts are here.

No roller/modified parts are of included in this topic due to cost.

If you want to see a very informative video from the “Ol Cooter” suspension wizard!

Fair. I would donate my RK’s to the cause but air freight is probably higher than local Rock Auto supply

Way awesome for the R&D Bill! Thanks; awaiting results
