Lower control arm ball joint?

So, in looking for good quality lower control arms, no one (since Moog stopped production) makes a arm that is of quality ( all are “decorative suspension parts, not for actual use!)

So, looking for lower ball joints I find no # or reference that these are avail, only a complete assembly. Has anybody used upper ball joint for the lowers?

I believe the lower ball joints from a 67 and 68 are the same and can be used on 69/70 arms. Someone else might be able to confirm.

Moog catalog does not show anything for lower ball joints, only complete assemblies. Have not found anywhere separate for lower arms( i could be wrong as I gave up looking, as AI seems to take over & spew trash suggestions!)

I don’t know anything about the quality of these, but EClassics shows them available. I appreciate you bringing up the query so I can seek BEFORE I need.

…and Parts Geek says they still have MOOG assemblies in stock (85 pieces)

Not to appear chintzy, but I bought the whole front suspension on my ‘72 from different sources on ebay. Unless you plan on doing a concours or a gymkana (do they still do those?) those parts are good for everydayman. I only compromised the coil springs (429) and sway bar (1-1/8”) in the rebuild. Trust me, after a good, professional alignment, I am not able to discern any issues (and I’m running Cragar 50 spokes).

OK, so the ones offered by most (in this case Moog “retail” quality, denoted by the prefix “RK”) is Chinese junk. Look closely at the arm. It has a coke bottle like profile, where as the “better quality” ones have a straight sides, like the original MOOG ones “K” series.

Ill purchase ball joint(s) and see if they are any good, and report back!

BTW, installing lesser quality parts will work… for a while. I have a cat that had less than 500 miles & the front end is so loose, easily moved by hand. Thats the “decorative suspension” I’ve talked about!

So much for ANY alignment!

Found that “K” vs “RK” designation awhile ago; was able to buy MOOG “K” upper ball joints from one of the above online suppliers.

Upper ball joints both 4 bolt 67-69 & 3 bolt 70 & replacement arms & steering tie rods are all still avail from Moog.. for how much longer? Idler arms & sleeves too

Any idea who makes these?

All appearances are that Speedway manufactures them themselves out of Lincoln NE.

Trip to the garage revealed (to my horror) that I got a set of upper/lower RK control arms from RA. Remaining parts are K’s. Google search leads me to believe (C)K’s are out of production.

Put Open Tracker Racing Lower Arms and Ball Joints on my 69 and have been very pleased.

Lower Control Arms – Opentracker Racing

I doubt that anybody makes the arms in the US. Cost would be nearer the ones suggested below

The cost of the open tracker are about 5 times the cost of all others!! That’s about 2 cat lives!

Yep the “K” and later “CK” is gone! All that is left are the “dorman”,”chinese”,Delco, ACP rebranded junk….

I thought I posted pics of these earlier

Good style MOOG top & bottom. Note the rivets

Note the body neck difference & shock “washer”.

These pictures are very helpful

those are china copies that anyone can have made and put their names on

I just purchased 14 Moog K8121 67 mustang lowers. they are out there, but not ball joints alone.
