Lowering Rear Leaf Springs

I have 2” lowering blocks on my 70 Cougar already and still have a 3” rake on the floor pan (hard to tell from the picture). Ride height is important to me and if you could see it in person I think you would agree that the back needs to come down some.
I am not sure what leaf springs are currently in the car but, would like to bring the back end down another inch or so. The front end has been rebuilt with a 1” lower springs. I like were the front sits and don’t have any problems with it at all.
Any recommendations for new leaf springs or a setup?
Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

I have no idea about the springs but I just wanted to say your Cougar looks great. 3 inch lowering blocks seem like a lot, more than likely you’ll need different springs.

Man, I wish that’s how my front end would sit with 1” lowering springs on the front. I have about 4” from the top of the tire to the fender. I’m thinking I’ll have to cut the springs to get there.

Great looking car you’ve got there.

da-bizket…I think the stance of your car is nice. Good looking car.

Huzer21…4 inches from the top of the tire to the fender? You mean to the bottom of the wheel well opening? That seems like an awful lot. Do you have a picture?

Sorry to hijack, here’s a pic:

Osborne assembly manuals have the factory ride heights listed in them.

You might consider having a spring shop de-arc the rear springs by the amount you want, assuming you are happy with the spring rate, etc. with your existing springs. Blocks is a solution but it is not correcting what causes the condition…

Did you replace all of the spings? I have a '69 convertible, I’ve thought my springs were sagging, I kind of like the look honestly, but it sits a lot lower than yours.

Looks like everyone’s wheel height is different.

I am looking into having the leafs re-arced but, not seeing anything local. Darn gears make freeway driving a drag.

Still might be the best option.

Your replies are greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Mark
