Lucas Fog/Driving Lights

Hey Folks,
On the early cougars that used the driving/fog lamps on the front valance, are there any identifying marks/features that
would distinguish them from a generic pair of Lucas lamps?
I have a set that I got over 20 years ago and was just curious if they were the ones used on Cougars or just generic that you
could purchase almost anywhere.
Thanks

It would make this much easier if you would post several pictures of what you have so that some of us, that are well acquainted with the Lucas and Marchal lamps, can give you some definitive answers.

As Scott said, with some pictures we can tell you whether or not the lights you have are the same as what was installed on XR7-G Cougars and Shelby Mustangs.

But in general, the Lucas lights used on the Cougars were not unique to the units anyone could purchase at auto parts stores that carried them.

Except maybe for the configuration of the attaching hardware.

The assembly line Lucas Square 8 fog lights for the XR7-G and Shelbys had a black, donut shaped rubber grommet where the wires come out of the chrome body.

Those actually let water in when the lights were hung “upside down” like on the G Cougars, so later lights replaced that with a grey, cone shaped grommet that sealed better.

The Square 8s with the grey grommets are not 100% correct for a G or Shelby.
